'Live Lounge' evening performance- a resounding success!
On Thursday the 4th of May, Abbeyfield School's Music department hosted the first ‘Live Lounge’ evening performance.
The Live Lounge concept has evolved from our Friday 'Live Lunches'- which occur during break times whilst students are having their lunch- and proved a great success. Students auditioned to perform acoustic covers of songs of their choice. Performers ranged from Years 7 to 12 and played a variety of instruments from the familiar piano and guitar to the more obscure cajon and ukulele!
Held in one of our Performing Arts classroom, the performance was intentionally intimate and informal and the ambience reminiscent of a studio performance, much like those of BBC2s popular ‘Later… with Jools Holland’ shows. The sell-out audience of 40 were treated to a repertoire of beautifully and professionally sung modern classics and current hits, sung by both solo artists, duos and groups.
The following students were involved: Jo Wickham, Oliver Evans, Alex Haywood, Ruby-Mae Crockett, Cindy Pawela, Josh Anderson, Curtis Marvell, Georgi Davies, Parris Levy, Anelie Moussi, Lauren Cox, Joseph Pepper, Cameron Binks, Celina Kaur, Kuba Balicki, Amara Abananne, Gabriel Spacey, Joe Monk and Bartek Henclik.
Katelyn Lewis in Year 8 expertly compered the show, bringing the whole evening together and introducing all the acts.
Special thanks also goes to our theatre technician, Richard Walker-Glenn and his technical team, including Josh Bastow, who all did a fantastic job in helping prepare the venue!
