Creative Education Trust (CET) - The Executive

Marc Jordan (Chief Executive)

Marc Jordan is a social entrepreneur with a background as a senior executive and consultant in the creative industries, culture and heritage. He is one of the Founders of the Creative Education Trust and is its Chief Executive. Marc has a BA in English from Exeter, an MA in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute and an MBA from London Business School. His business career has included senior editorial, product development and management roles for prominent businesses in the creative world including Phaidon Press and AEA Consulting. He has been a strategic adviser to national cultural organisations including Arts Council England, the British Council and the Royal Academy of Arts. Marc has held a wide range of advisory positions on culture and education initiatives, including European Capital of Culture 2008 and the Heritage Lottery Fund. He was until recently a Governor of Midhurst Rother College, an academy in West Sussex, and was for six years a member of the Council of the University of Exeter. His is a Trustee of the Bishopsgate Foundation in the City of London,

Philip Cantwell (Director of Education)

Philip Cantwell was Principal of Malcolm Arnold Academy in Northampton, which opened in September 2010. He joined Creative Education Trust from the David Ross Education Trust as Director of Education at the beginning of the 2013/14 academic year. His previous school educates more than 1100 students aged 11-18 and will grow to 1500 over the next 2 years. It replaced Unity College, which was amongst the country's poorest performing secondary schools and was in ‘Special Measures.' It serves an economically disadvantaged, ethnically diverse population with 34 first languages and significant special needs provision including a very strong ‘Total Communications Unit' for deaf children. During Philip's tenure Key Stage 4 performance improved from 19% to 52% (2012) 5A*-CEM and in December 2012 the academy was judged "Good with Outstanding " by Ofsted. His previous posts include two headships in the independent sector - Cokethorpe School (1995-2002) and King's School, Tynemouth (2002-2010).

Emily Campbell (Director of Programmes)

Emily Campbell is responsible for Creative Education Trust's unique Design Programme. She came to CET from the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) where she directed a programme to investigate how learning design skills could help people and communities be more resourceful. As the British Council's Head of Design & Architecture for twelve years, she commissioned events and exhibitions all over the world on behalf of the United Kingdom's leading agency for international cultural relations. Earlier, she was a graphic designer at Pentagram in New York and a pattern-maker for the fashion designer Jean Muir. She has a BA in English Literature from Cambridge, a diploma in clothing technology from the London College of Fashion and an MFA in Graphic Design from Yale School of Art.

Mark Mumby: Director of Standards

Mark joined CET in September 2015 from Ofsted where he operated as a Senior HMI in the East Midlands. He is a former primary school headteacher.

Mark works closely with Philip Cantwell, Director of Education, overseeing our monitoring and evaluation regime to ensure the maximum impact of the Trust’s school improvement strategies. He is also responsible for developing effective CPD programmes for school leaders and teachers, and has overall responsibility for the CET primary schools.
