MAIN SCHOOL (YEARS 7-11) ADMISSIONS CRITERIA
Abbeyfield School follows the Local Authority fair access admissions procedures and students are admitted at age 11 into Year 7 without reference to ability,aptitude, race, creed or gender. It is the intention of Creative Education Trust that the school is genuinely competitive in all aspects and that astimulating learning environment is created by accommodating students with the widest range of gifts and talents. It is expected that prospective parents and students will support the values and rules of the school.
In the event of over- subscription, the school will allocate places using the agreed criteria in the following order:
(i) Students with a Statement of Special Educational Needs which names Abbeyfield School as appropriate provision and subject to the school being able to meet any specific educational need.
(ii) Children in public care (looked after children)
(iii) Students who will have an older brother or sister continuing at Abbeyfield
School at the time of admission of the younger child
(iv) Students who live closer to Abbeyfield School than any other school
(v) Other students
If the admission number is exceeded within criterion (iii) priority will be given to those who live furthest from the nearest alternative school. If the admission number is exceeded within any other criterion priority will be given to those who live closest to the school.
