Key Stage 3 

Key Stage 3 Drama is designed to be an inclusive and creative course, aimed at increasing the cultural capital available to our students. The curriculum allows students to use their own imagination and creativity to create drama performances. A CET KS3 drama student will develop their confidence in using their vocal and physical skills to communicate meaning of a story or character. Creating performance will develop transferable skills including teamwork, collaboration and evaluation skills, and their confidence is increased through live performance. Students will explore a wide variety of play scripts, styles and practitioners over the duration of KS3 Curriculum. 

Key Stage 4 

Key Stage 4 builds upon the devising and performance skills explored in KS3 and follows the AQA GCSE Drama specification.  Students will complete 3 components exploring Understanding Drama, Devising Drama and Texts in Practice.    Students will develop their acting skills whilst collaborating with others, thinking analytically, and evaluating effectively.   They will gain confidence to pursue their own ideas and reflect and refine skills.   Set texts explored include Blood Brothers as well as the Live Theatre production of Billy Elliot the Musical.   Students also explore staging monologues and duologues as well as explore design elements of theatre practically.  

Enrichment  

Drama & the Performing Arts play a huge part to the contribution of the schools extra-curricular programme.  Our annual school productions have been become renowned for its professionalism in which students fully experience working to a professional standard.  We have our Theatre Tech Crew allowing students to develop a deeper understanding of working in the theatre practically.   In addition, there are a number of trips and residentials which are planned throughout the year which include visits to see Blood Brothers, a tour of the National Theatre and our annual London Residential Trip.
