SEND
At Abbeyfield School we are passionate about the success of our students and at the heart of this is ensuring equity of access to, and experience of, a broad, balanced, inclusive and supportive curriculum.
The Inclusion offer is delivered by our SENDCO team, our Inclusion Hub (which includes our provision for students with English as an Additional Language), in- class support with reasonable adjustments, and a focus on quality first teaching to provide scaffolding and ensure a positive and enriching learning environment and experience for all our students.
Our SEND team possess a wide range of expertise and a plethora of skills. This team comprises of an Assistant Principal for Inclusion, a SENDCO and two Deputy SENDCOs, in addition to 10 widely and diversely experienced Teaching Assistants.
A wide range of staff in our Inclusion Team help and support students with a variety of additional needs. These include learning, emotional and social difficulties as well as physical and sensory impairment. Support is delivered with specific targets, which students receive through both individual withdrawal lessons where appropriate and in-class support, across the curriculum. Additionally, we offer small group work and intervention support for students who require extra support with key areas of their learning.
As a school and a department, we take great pride in offering educational and pastoral support to meet individual student needs, so that all students can achieve to the best of their ability.
