Modern Foreign Languages
At KS3 all students study French. The topics covered prepare students for a future languages GCSE. These contain themes such as family and school and culture in France in years seven and eight, moving to more in depth topics such as future careers and the environment in year nine. Emphasis is on acquiring key vocabulary, developing listening and speaking skills, and guiding them through GCSE style written tasks.
At KS4 all students study a language with must students continuing to study French, but some choosing Spanish. We believe strongly in all students studying a language as this broadens future careers options, as employers value languages highly.
Prior knowledge from KS3 is built on and developed in the four skill areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. These are all equally weighted at GCSE. Bespoke teaching is offered to support students at all skill levels to gain their full potential.
