Ofsted

Abbeyfield School is proud to be repeatedly judged as a 'Good' school by Ofsted*. This is clearly demonstrated by the last 2 inspections of the school, carried out in Sept 2021 and May 2016. Highlights of the most recent report include:

'Pupils are happy at school and say that they feel safe. The school environment is calm and orderly. Pupils behave well. They are polite and courteous.'

'Teachers’ subject knowledge is strong. In most subjects, they use this to question pupils in depth about their learning, including students in the sixth form. In subjects such as Spanish, history and performing arts, teachers teach with infectious enthusiasm'

*When Ofsted have judged a school to be good, they then normally go into the school about once every four years to confirm that the school remains good. This is called a section 8 inspection of a good or outstanding school, because it is carried out under section 8 of the Education Act 2005.
