Sharp Starts - 2024

Back to business as usual this term. We have one priority this term and that is to ensure that all lessons get off to a "Sharp Start ". This means that:

  • Teachers will greet pupils at the classroom door.
  • Pupils will enter in silence and get straight on with their "Do Now" learning activity.
  • Pupils will have all their equipment and will be in the correct uniform.

I insist on total consistency with Sharp Starts as this phase of learning is so important because it informs the teacher what pupils remember from previous lessons and also what they might know already. In turn,  this means the lesson is pitched at the right learning point for every child, so they can make good or better progress.

I am looking forward to meeting with parents again this term and will set two dates for this half-term for our discussion to focus on 2 specific areas - (1) An update on reporting and (2) A discussion in regard to homework ideas (these dates will be confirmed and published shortly).

Please continue to contact your child's Form Tutor as your first port of call for any queries and then, if necessary, their Head of Year - contact details can be found here.

We look forward to welcoming back students tomorrow to continue to build on the positive momentum we achieved at the end of 2023, and also to ensure we can help all our school community achieve the best possible academic outcomes this year.
